Internship – Keelergordon, London – www.keelergordan.com
Keelergordon’s is a textile company based in Hackney. The company is very much based on high street fashion and mainly do photoshop and screen print designs. Keelergordan creates original textiles and designs concepts for the fashion industry. They used a mix of textile techniques such as screen print, digital and embroidery. This was a great opportunity as it gave me a real life experience of what it would be like to be working the textiles industry. I learnt a number of skills: dying, pattern cutting, mood boards, sewing, printing and general day to day jobs that would be expected in a company. Even though I was only there for two weeks I felt I had learnt so much and have taken my skills back to University with me.
Also I travelled to Bangladesh in 2010 to volunteer at a textiles workshop. I travelled to Bangladesh in 2010 to volunteer at a textiles workshop. This provided me with an insight into a how the textiles industry works in Bangladesh compared to the UK and enhanced my interpersonal skills further.
I have always taken every opportunity to challenge myself artistically and academically, in 2009 winning the Craftex competition at the Trades house of Glasgow. Also a skirt, dress and other pieces of my design work have been shown at the Kelvingrove Museum.
I am open to freelance work, collaborations and contributing to a range of design disciplines. Please do not hesitate to contact me.
