Inspiration for final 4th year collection! 1. Caroline Herrera: 2012 fall 2. Caroline Herrera: 2013 spring. 3. Cedric Charlier spring 2013. 4./5. Elisabeth Couloigner 6./7. William Morris. The aim to for this collection is to mix stripes and florals together, with textural backgrounds, using the key images above as a starting point. Later on into the project Basso and Brooke were a inspiration, on the style of combining designs together and their drawings of geometrics.
Development: laser cut tracing paper images. The layout of these drawings was inspired from William Morris art work : flowers and animals. I wanted to create a 2 layered look which shows through each layer. Also I was working with symmetry which is mostly used in William Morris designs.
Development: samples. Mainly working with devore and discharge on top of reactive dyes to create layers of texture, Introducing a little bit of florals, stripes and triangles which was leading me to think more about geometric. Also using yellow as a key colour at that moment, I think greys and navy’s will work best against yellow, I then developed this further in my next fabric samples.
I have done a collection of photoshop geometrics, the original drawings were from a A5 sketch book which I drew stripes and patterns from inspiration from Lee Coren, Caroline Herrera and John Galliano
I have combined digital print and screen print in these samples, using devore, discharge and reactive dye.
These fabrics designs are from my final collection, a mix of techniques such as screen print, digital, discharge, and dying. I have four long fashion fabrics which are 2meters long, I wanted to emphasizing these long pieces as long fashion dresses
For my fashion illustration I have used the technique collage, using different weights of paper, ink, pigment and Photoshop to build up layers, a similar technique I used to design my collection. I would say they look better in real life as tracing paper is difficult to photographs of.
